Over 30 years growing experience

Our first transplants were planted during the spring of 1986 since then we have been planting 10,000 to 12,000 trees a year.

Over 25 years selling to the public

In 1991 we took part in a Blue Peter appeal and sold our first trees for retail. The following year we opened our gates fully and the Digby Farm Christmas Shop was born.

A Family owned and operated business

The plantation is run by John and Helen Ellis, along with their Son, Daughters, and grandchildren. 3 generations so far!

Digby farm is a family run business of 60 hectares, of which 20 hectares are dedicated to growing Christmas trees. The plantation is run by John and Helen Ellis with their son and eldest daughter working on the farm throughout the year, Other members of the family join in with the work at various times of the year and it’s all hands on deck when the doors open to the public.

Being a dry part of the country with an annual rain fall of approximately 55cm the conditions are best suited to growing Norway spruce (the traditional Christmas tree) and Scots pine, we do however grow other varieties particularly for our retail sales.

Our retail sales are usually open from the first weekend of December up until Christmas Eve. Please be aware that opening hours and days differ each year, and particularly in the week leading up to Christmas – check the homepage for the latest times.

We do our best to ensure that our trees are fresh by lifting new trees each day.

Another area that has exploded within the business over the last few years has been supplying trees and foliage to Horse Shows and to Show jumping events all across the country with our trees being used at alot of the major events throughout the year.
